If you love strong characters - flesh-and-blood people who really work for their happy ending, and the real estate/reno shows like Kirsty and Phil, you're going to enjoy this sweet, warm and hopeful "estate agent" romance. This is Lauren Westwood's first book, but it has the confident control in her story, characters and pacing to seem like her 5th - or even her 10th. It was just such a pleasure to spend a day 'inside' this book, falling in love with a wonderful old pile of a country house as well as a dashing, mysterious hero. For me, Finding Home was a complete joy, over far too soon, and I can't wait to read Ms Westwood's next book. If you buy this one, expect to still be reading it way past bedtime!

Finding Home A brilliant feel good romance eBook Lauren Westwood Reviews

This was one of the best books I have read in a long time. It was not my typical read of cozy mystery but just a good book about people you could like and like to know. Its a about a young woman who gets her heart broken, moves back home with her parents and finds a job as a realtor, she then falls in love with an old house and tries to save it. There are some laughs and tears, but an all around good book.
I was thinking a little brain candy was the perfect anecdote to the end of a long day, but I was not prepared for the treat I discovered.
While this definitely falls into the chick-lit genre, it was well-written and a nice change from the usual bounty of booze, sex and shoes. There was a plot, a good story-line, an incredibly good hook and a little bit of mystery.
My only complaint is that I am mighty tired of folks riding on the coat-tails of Jane Austen. Honestly, this book could have been great without all those references...something generic would have worked.
An intriguing story about a young woman who faces a devastating end to a long relationship, losing her job and facing starting over in a less. than thrilling position with a house agent. She has the opportunity to view a crumbling estate called Rosemont Hall and there another love affair begins. She is determined to find someone to save this sad property. This is more than a story about the house, but rather the people who have lived there and the lives surrounding it. The story is beautifully written and flows with interesting twists and mysteries. It was so interesting that I had to go back and read the last few chapters to savor the beautiful ending.
I hate when authors write the entire book in the Present tense. Most books are written in the past tense and it's weird to use the present tense throughout the entire story. What little I did read of the main character seemed very self centered. Maybe it gets better later on but I'm not willing took continue on.
Starting with Amy, who had gotten the wrong end of the stick in love and career, we get to go along for a wonderful ride. Desperately needing a job, after a horrible experience with boyfriend, Simon,Amy takes a position at a dreaded estate agent's office, at the lowest end of the totem pole. She gets roped into checking out an old country mansion in disrepair, that has little to no chance of being sold as a "home". But Amy sees more. A romantic at heart, along with her doctorate in literature, she's on a crusade to find out more about this wonderful house. Through ups and downs, and meeting many new people, Amy's life turns around and changes completely. A mystery is solved and her life lands right-side-up.
Wonderful book. The main character is a fan of Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre, and compares parts of her life to the characters in the books. If you've ever fallen in love with an historic house and the history of those who lived there, you will feel a.kinship with Amy Wood, the main character in this book.
I enjoyed this book and the writing style. As the title says, it is a feel good romance and for romance fans, it is a light, enjoyable read. I would have given it 5 stars, but I felt that it took too long for the hero to make an appearance and the relationship could have been developed more if he had appeared earlier.
One other thing that jarred a bit was the reference to the stoicism of Elinor Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility when she thinks she's been jilted by Bingley. It should be Elinor Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility and Edward Ferrars, or alternatively, Jane Bennet in Pride and Prejudice and Bingley. Given that Amy is a fan of Jane Austen, this was a bit sloppy.
Nonetheless, I still found myself looking forward to the times I could sit down and read it and I would recommend it to fans of this genre.
